Caesarea the ancient Roman city became the centre of Early Christianity in Israel. Early Christian mentions of Caesarea in the apostolic period follow the acts of Peter who established the church there when he baptized Cornelius the Centurion (Acts, 10, 11). The Apostle Paul often sojourned there (9:30; 18:22; 21:8), and was imprisoned at Caesarea.

Masada and Dead Sea one day tour

Historical context - follow the parable of the Good Samaritan on the road from Jerusalem to Jericho In the time of Jesus, visit the Good Samaritan Inn.

Masada is ancient palaces and fortifications on top of an isolated rock plateau, on the eastern edge of the Judean Desert. After the First Jewish-Roman War a siege of the fortress by troops of the Roman Empire led to the mass suicide of the Sicarii rebels.

The Dead Sea also called the Salt Sea, the lowest elevation on the Earth's surface, Supplier of products from balms for Egyptian mummification to potash for fertilizers cosmetics and health.

Qumran

Itinerary

Full day Masada,  Ein Gedi, and the Dead Sea. Early departure for the lowest place on earth, along the Dead sea passing the caves of Qumran, where the dead sea scrolls were found. Arrive at Masada, ascend by cable car to the fortress-palace of Herod, which later became the last stronghold of the zealots in their struggle against Rome. Walk through its palaces, store rooms, steam Bath, synagogue and more. Proceed with the excitement on top of the fortress. Descend and arrive at Ein Gedi for an optional swim at the hot springs and Dead Sea. Return to Jerusalem or Tel Aviv.
